THE LOGICAL MINDMAP(LUCT)

ASSOCIATED MIND MAP(LEADERSHIP)

THE ESSAY(IDEAS OF HOW TO IMPROVE LUCT, MYSELF AS A LEADER)
IDEAS OF HOW TO IMPROVE LIMKOKWING UNIVERSITY OF CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY
Leadership is the act of leading a group of people or an organization. It is the state of being a leader , a Leader is a person chosen through appointment or election by group of people with common interest to rule based on outstanding characters. Leadership comes with great responsibilities   which must be carried out.
Leadership is the role given to people with leadership qualities, people with authorities, people who can lead, can direct or work with a group of people to achieve a common goal (Nermeen 2005). A good leader has to have good characteristics, a leader also needs to have mutual understanding with followers. Fundamentally, leadership is an influence relationship between leaders and followers, within a leadership system (Levy 2004). Myself as a leader, have all these qualities and characteristics which I will use to ensure we improve Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.
Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is an Institution  which is a global university, with students from over 150 countries in the world. It has campuses in London, Swaziland, Botswana, Latin America and also China. Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is a creative and globalized University that shapes hearts and minds to empower global transformation; also its vision is to create a network of globalized youth.
Limkokwing University of Creative Technology can be improved through many ways depending on the leader. I  will  ensure to make the right decisions for the betterment of the school. Firstly, a Learning and Leisure Centre for students will be created, the centre is going to be helpful for students especially those staying on campus. The Leisure centre will include many activities for students to enroll during the summer holidays, the centre will be made in such a way that leisure will meet learning in a multipurpose space. The centre is going to be accessible to only students in the University. Outdoor activities will also be included such as cycling on campus. Also, a good leader will be chosen to guide people who will join the activities involved, shared vision and value of the centre will be inspired and motivated by the leader.
Secondly, Student services will be improved with facilities upgrades combined with a restructure of recreation amenities for future use. In addition to the gymnasium present, swimming pool, tennis, and squash courts will be provided, playing fields and other sports activities will also be created. Encouraging recreational activities in LUCT will greatly improve it.
Thirdly, ensuring good hygiene and cleanliness across the campus will be taken care of. According to (Nviro), ensuring that a college is well maintained is not only conducive to productivity , it also increases the likelihood of attracting more students. The importance of investing in a regular cleaning schedule on campus is sometimes overlookedMaintaining cleanliness in the environment will set a good example to students and also encourage students to take pride of the University, which makes it less likely for students to drop litter and it will potentially make a big effort to maintain the clean environment. Cleanliness is also important when it comes to cutting down of diseases and that means staff and students will be able to enjoy a comfortable learning environment, ensuring the cleanliness will also improve hygiene levels and can help to reduce spread of diseases easily.
Fourthly, the provision of faculty benefits will be included, the lecturers are going to get more raise so that they can feel more appreciated and work even harder, some are not satisfied with the conditions also, with the benefits given, the school will be improved in so many ways and also keep moving forward. Not only the infrastructures matters in the university but also the quality of the faculties.
The fifth idea I have to improve LUCT is to create a Fundraise, a project that needs financial support whether it is painting a mural or purchasing school supplies for needy students, a fundraising campaign will be done which will include many ideas such as Hosting games with an entrance fee, hosting a silent auction for students artwork, holding a garage sale e.t.c.
Also, the sixth idea I will ensure as a leader is that students are given the opportunity to access the administrators in the school to be able to voice their opinion, it is important because it will be a way of communicating concerns.
Also, I will prohibit smoking in particular places, I will make it allowed but only in certain areas and places in the school where there are less people. Smoking is very dangerous to the health and inhaling it could cause illness to students. Which will be the seventh idea to make LUCT a better place for both students and staff.
In conclusion, being a leader at Limkokwing is going to be very challenging but at the same time will strive to make Limkokwing University of Creative Technology a better and well improved school so that it can be the best.

1.  Empowerment:-To give someone the authority or power to do something.
Link: Giving away responsibilities isn’t always easy. It can actually be harder to do than completing the task yourself, but with the right project selection and support, delegating can pay off. That way, i can find people’s capabilities and get the most out of them which will in-turn improve the University.

JUXTAPOSITION
Juxtaposition

Trustworthy

Trustworthy can be defined as able to be relied on as honest or truthful.
The picture above shows to people participating in a trust fall. According to Wikipedia, trust fall is a purported trust-building game often conducted as a group exercise in which people deliberately allow themselves to fall, relying on the other members of the group (spotters) to catch the person.[1] There are many variants of the trust fall. For instance, in one type, the group stands in a circle, with one person in the middle with arms folded against his chest and falls in various directions, being pushed by the group back to a standing position before falling again.
Just as this picture shows a trust fall, that’s how a leader should be trusted with their responsibilities.

Stoicism

Stoicism is the endurance of pain or hardship without a display of feelings and without complaint. The picture above shows an ant carrying a heavy object. Ants are known to carry their food from anywhere they found it to their habitat. Ants are found to be capable of lifting an object weighing 5 times as much as their own weight at the maximum in their mandibles.
Just as the picture shows the ants endurance, that’s how a leader should be, fulfilling their responsibilities no matter how hard it gets.

Generosity

Generosity is the quality of being kind and generous. Generosity (also called largess) is the virtue of not being tied down by concerns about one's possessions. Often, it means to provide help to others by giving them an (usually precious) item without thinking twice.
The picture above shows a person being generous by sharing their apples.
Just as the picture, a leader should be generous and be able to share whatever they have no matter how small it is.

LOGICAL MIND MAP ( WWW )
LOGICAL MIND MAP ( BRAIN )

HOW EXCESSIVE USE OF THE INTERNET(WWW) AFFECTS THE HUMAN BRAIN

Internet  is a broad and huge computer network that links smaller computer networks worldwide. The internet allows all computers worldwide to connect and exchange information which is referred to as a global communication. The internet uses the same set of communication protocols be it the commercial, governmental, educational, and other networks. The Human Brain on the contrary, is the organ of the body in the head which controls movements, functions, and also thoughts. The human brain is the command center for the human nervous system. The human brain is protected by the skull. The internet has the ability to make people research and browse using different websites, play games, watch movies online, images and different variety of  videos. The brain on the contrary, helps human beings to store information, think, learn, discover and also react. Internet addiction is associated with structural and functional changes in brain regions involving emotional processing, executive attention, decision making and cognitive control(Lin & Zhou et al, 2012).
Too much use of the internet can affect the human brain because the brain uses information stored in the long term memory to facilitate critical thinking. We need the memories to understand and interact with the world around us, instead we rely on the internet to store our knowledge which makes us lose part of our identity. According to Bell(2010), There’s a long history of fear when it comes to technology’s impact on our lives. Also, the more we use internet, the less likely we are to retain what we see in our brain. Information can be stored in the computer found on the internet but the chances of remembering it is less because humans won’t devote cognitively to it. As a result, the ability to remember the information without the computer will likely be reduced which will affect the human brain. The use of the internet also affects the brain because it changes our way of thinking, having the convenience of using the internet for gaining knowledge at our fingertips instead of our brain changes and distabilizes the way we think. Excessive use of the internet causes Addiction.
Hong and colleagues found reduced cortical(the outermost part of the brain) thickness in internet addicted teen boys(Hong 2013), and Yuan et al found reduced cortical thickness in the frontal lobe of online gaming addicts correlated with impairment of a cognitive task(Yuan 2013).
The functions of the brain includes social interaction, communication with the body, storage, learning, planning, and creative visualization. The internet also has functions that includes communication, analyzing interaction, and also storage of data in computers. Other findings on excessive use of the internet includes reduced numbers of dopamine receptors and transporters(Kim and Hou 2012).As a result, the internet and the brain have similar functions which makes it possible for the internet to affect the brain. The internet is also addictive, it affects the brain and could make the brain breakdown.
In conclusion too much use of the internet affecting the human brain is said to be an Analogy because they have similar things in common and also, the internet can affect the brain because of those similarities they share.

RANDOM WORDS (SOCIAL NETWORK)

   1.     Gossip:-  casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true.
Link:- most social network sites carry false rumors and unreliable information . The brain is tricked into believing the news is true as a result of the amount of time the viewer spends on the internet.

   2.     Facebook:- this is a popular free social networking website that allows registered users to create profiles, upload photos and video, send messages and keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues.

   3.     Cheating:- act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination.
Link:- The rate at which students used to read had reduced drastically since the internet came along. Nowadays, when a student goes in for a test without reading, the first intuition he gets from his brain is to make use of his phone to get answers.

   4.     Privacy:- the state or condition of being free from being observed or disturbed by other people.
Link:- People, especially the young, are often too open and public with personal information when online. Most don't read privacy policies and may be unaware that their information may be used by third parties, like advertisers. They have convinced themselves that it is safe and harmless to post personal information, including photos.

   5.     Cyber bullying:- Cyber bullying is the use of cell phones, instant messaging, e-mail, chat rooms or social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to harass, threaten or intimidate someone.

   11.       Multitasking:- the handling of more than one task at the same time by a single person.
Link:- Research has shown that our brains don’t have the capacity to fully focus our attention on two things at once. Spending countless hours on the social sites can divert the focus and attention from a particular task and causes our brain to quickly switch from one task to another. This hinders information processing and productivity.

   12.     Addiction:- Addiction is a condition that results when a person  engages in an activity that can be pleasurable but the continued use of which becomes compulsive and interferes with ordinary life responsibilities.

   14.   Isolation:- the process or fact of isolating or being isolated.
Link:- As people spend increasing amounts of time on social networks, they experience less face-to-face interaction. Scientists have evaluated social isolation and have determined that it can lead to a host of mental, psychological, emotional and physical problems including depression, anxiety, somatic complaints and many others.

 JUXTAPOSITION

How excessive use of the Internet affects the brain

Too much use of the Internet makes someone addicted to it. AndAddiction on the other hand changes the brain, first by subverting the way it registers pleasure and then by corrupting other normal drives such as learning and motivation.
The picture above shows an addict. Whose addiction has caused him to miss out a lot in life and the life of his family. It shows his family out having fun but he is too attached, distracted and occupied by his playing online.
According to mail online, excessive Internet use may cause parts of teenagers’ brains to waste away, a study reveals.
Scientists discovered signs of atrophy of grey matter in the brains of heavy Internet users that grew worse over time.
This could affect their concentration and memory, as well as their ability to make decisions and set goals. It could also reduce their inhibitions and lead to ‘inappropriate’ behavior.
Researchers took MRI brain scans from 18 university students, aged 19, who spent eight to 13 hours a day playing games online, six days a week.
The students were classified as internet addicts after answering eight questions, including whether they had tried to give up using computers and whether they had lied to family members about the amount of time they spent online.

ANALOGY

This is the comparison between two things that have similar features

1)                           Oxygen is to human as carbon dioxide is to plants

2)                          carpenter is to hammer as painter is to brush

3)       Shoe is to foot as tyre is to wheel
